Satellite Internet provides Internet services to locations where there are no wireless, fibre or cellular services. These services connect to the Internet using satellites that orbit above the earth so can reach places where there is no other service available. Satellite Internet services are more expensive than other services due to the costs involved in putting the satellites into space.
Satellite Internet services are available for fixed locations such as houses and lodges that use a dish antenna that is mounted outdoors with clear line of sight to the satellite known as VSAT. Satellite Internet services are also available using small portable terminals that are simple to setup and can be used from anywhere and are known as Mobile Satellite services.
